“I think theatre should always be somewhat suspect.” said Vaclav Havel.

White Rabbit Red Rabbit is a play that offers a lot of room for suspect and spontaneity. Its theatre in its purest form, where there is no director and no rehearsals! Only one brave performer, with one actor taking on stage each time the play is on. Moreover, the actor receives the script in sealed envelope on stage and that’s the first time the performer reads it! Yes, you read that right.

Nassim Soleimanpour

The play is the brainchild of Nassim Soleimanpour, a writer originally from Iran. Nassim was banned from traveling outside Iran when he denied compulsory military participation for his country. And that’s when he wrote this experimental play which has been widely acclaimed by audiences around the world and performed by prominent actors.

Nassim did earn the right to travel in 2013 but only after his play had won the hearts of audiences around the globe. Since then he has conducted workshops and panel discussions in several countries including the World Theatre Festival, British Council (London), Asia House (London) and Tolhuistuin (Amsterdam) among many others.

Most of Nassim’s plays are unconventional in nature, with an experimental and engaging approach. His other work includes Blind Hamlet, which has no performers, just a voice recorder and the audience. While Blank is a script filled with blanks to be filled by the audience and gives them the control to determine how the story will unfold.
