Lovers of quick repertoire and thrilling plays unite as Aaron Sorkin’s ground-breaking play is all set to take stage! The dates have been announced and we clearly cannot keep calm!
A Few Good Men is regarded as one of the most intense and engaging plays to have left audiences in awe.
Sorkin also adapted the play into a major motion picture starring Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson
and Demi Moore which was later nominated for the Oscars AND the Golden globes!
The play is a high energy, suspenseful story that follows an investigation by two military
lawyers defending two United States Marines accused of murdering a fellow Marine. Their research uncovers a high-level conspiracy that might reveal the truth.
To have this be performed on stage is every theatre goer’s wild dream come true! And making this happen is Aadyam- An Aditya Birla Initiative.
With superlative performances and high-scale productions, Aadyam is raising the standards of theatrical experiences, one season at a time! In the past five years, Aadyam as the patron of theatre in India has given us plays filled with tremendous quality and unforgettable performances. And with their ‘Spotlight’ programme the experience is holistic and engaging to say the least.
After being loved across the globe for decades, its safe to say that A Few Good Men has the intensity to enrapture the Indian audience like never before. Aaron Sorkin’s masterpiece has always been unimaginable and Indian theatre lovers get to experience this Magic of Theatre, thanks to Aadyam.
The play is directed by everyone’s favourite (certainly Aadyam’s) Nadir Khan. Having directed Sing India Singh, Anand Express, Twelve Angry Jurors and God Of Carnage for Aadyam, we hope there is never a season without a Nadir Khan production! Along with a clever design, Nadir often includes humanness to his plays, making for a delightful watch!
The play has an extremely exciting and promising cast that includes Rajit Kapur who plays Lt. Col. Nathan Jessep, Neil Bhoopalam as Ly. Jg. Daniel A. Kaffee and Ira Dubey as the persistent lawyer Lt. Cmdr. Joanne Galloway. It also features Siddharth Kumar, Ashwin Mushran, Danish Husain, Kenny Desai, Sukanth Goel, Suresh Venkat and Junaid Khan. Phew! If a cast as magnificent as this does not excite you, nothing will!
A Few Good Men also promises immaculate set design and unique grandeur. The light design and execution by META winner, Asmit Pathare and music design by Kaizad Gherda ensures this is going to be a treat to watch.
Shernaz Patel, Artistic Director of Aadyam said, “Aadyam Season 5 launches with this high
stakes, brilliantly crafted, sharp military drama. It’s a world that we have not often seen on the
Indian stage. What’s especially great about the play is that even though it speaks about big
issues like what constitutes honour and the “goodness” of men, issues we are all grappling with
today, it is written with abundant humour and wit. It’s a taut court martial story, it’s fast paced,
allows for intricate staging and has beautifully etched characters. In the hands of Nadir Khan
who has wowed us every year with his exceptional direction of iconic plays like Twelve Angry
Jurors and Sing India Sing, and this brilliant ensemble cast it’s undoubtedly going to be a
fabulous theatre experience.”
The play premiers on 20th July and tickets are available here.
