“For you, a thousand times over”

Hassan and Amir had a moving impact on our souls when we first read The Kite Runner, and their story has been etched in our hearts ever since. This International best-seller was adapted into a stellar stage production and with efforts full of promise and love, Aadyam is bringing this heartwarming story by Khaled Hosseini to the Indian stage!

Set in 1975 Afghanistan, the heart wrenching tale of friendship, family, love, ethnic tension and sacrifice is imprinted on our memories. The play was adapted by Matthew Spangler and tells the story of two boys on the afternoon of a kite tournament and how it changed their lives forever. The play first premiered at the San Jose Repertory Theatre in 2009.

In India, The Kite Runner is directed by Akarsh Khurana, one of the most prolific theatre makers of our times. Akarsh wears many hats including that of screenwriter, film director, producer, and actor. Films like Karwaan and stage productions like The Job (The Interview) and Baghdad Wedding are testament to Akarsh’s keen sense of depicting emotional nuances of a story. And when he brings to stage a terrific tale based on human conflicts and cultural intricacies from the middle-east, expectations are bound to rise!

The play also features an ensemble cast that are known for their sheer talent- Kumud Mishra, Akash Khurana, Muskkaan Jaferi, Abhishek Saha, Adhaar Khurana, Nipun Dharmadhikari, Shubrajyoti Barat, Lisha Bajaj, Navendra Mishra, Sarthak Kakar, and Sumit Raj Yadav promise to deliver captivating performances.

With sets designed by Ayaz Basrai and Siddhima Dubey, light design by Quasar Thakore Padamsee and sound design by Varrunn Bangera, the play assures to be an audio-visual treat to be remembered.

Aadyam has been instrumental in creating superlative theatre and has consistently done so for five years. They opened this years season with A Few Good Men and following its success they continue to honour the tradition of exquisite storytelling with The Kite Runner which is everything intense, heartbreakingly beautiful and absolutely unforgettable.
